Railway Cultural – Artistic Association “Željezničar" Sarajevo was established on 30.10.1945. On the initiative of the syndicate, the railway and transportation workers, guided by the group of amateurs, railway knot already operating with very successful performances on 9.9.1945. In the theatre, «Narodno pozoriste» in Sarajevo was introduced to the public. Shortly after that event, the founding congregation was maintainer and Association started working, gathering railway workers, youth and intellectuals in its sections for this noble job. The time of 53 years of activity of this association could be dividing on two periods: • The period from 1945 – 1992, period after Second World War • The period from 1992 – 1998, during the war in BiH In the period between 1945 and 1992 our association gathered 450 active members, mostly youth, in our sections, choir, folklore, brass band, folk orchestra, drama, solo singers of folk songs, art sections and other types of cultural activities. In this period, the sections gave 5491 concerts in the country and 170 concerts abroad: in the countries of Europe, Asia and Africa. In their repertoire, the association especially cherishes the works of originals national making, than the works of inheritance and contemporary artistic expressions of all our peoples and nations. The press marked that our association «Željeznicar» was the first association from BiH who were guests abroad (26.06.1956.) and the first association that performed on the Brisel television (live). The association has won many recognitions, awards and diplomas for its work on many reviews, festivals in the country and abroad. The period between 1992 and 1998 is characteristic for its loss of many members and destroyed material means of the association during the war in our country, the association found it self in a crisis which needed to be solved urgently. 
Thanks to the enthusiasm of our members and especially to the choreographers of the ensemble of the folk dances, the association has got back on their feet fast, the sections started working, true now less, but enough for the association to restore to life and try to return the quality it had before. Many concerts in our cities, as well as the very successful starring engagement of the folk dances and songs ensemble in Hungary show that we succeeded in this. For this starring, we won a special recognition and awards, and one-hour participation on the Television BiH under the name Sevdah in Hungary. In the year 1997 the folklore ensemble of the folk dances and songs were guests in Turkey and performed five concerts in Konji, Ankara and Istanbul, which were receive very well from numerous spectators. In the year 1998 the choir of the association with success took part on the international festival of music in Cantonigrusu – Spain.
